Come tomorrow, I'll be in the ocean

Who: The Pines and friends
What: The younger set of twins is being called back to the sea. They are throwing themselves a joint birthday/going away party about it, as is proper for a Gravity Falls series finale.
When: Last week in August, with their birthday on the 31st.
Where: Prep is all over, party at the beach

This is a mingle log! Feel free to make your own top levels!

( I'll be rising with the morning tide )

comments

⇓in character⇓

PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Platonic stuff is totally fine! Mabel sometimes even hugs her brother on purpose even though he is a little stinky.

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: Not necessarily an immediate no, but talk to me first!

ROMANCE/FLIRTING: This is a possibility for Trench where it wasn't in Deer, but know that Mabel comes with assloads of baggage -- a series of failed summer romances in canon rocked her confidence, and being a vileblood with poison spit prone to corruption will rock it even farther. To that end she'll be hesitant over anything casual, nervous about anything she tries for, and a slow burn with a solid foundation is probably what will really make it in the long term.

SEXUAL CONTENT: No. She is freshly 14 years old.

PSYCHIC ABILITIES: Mabel doesn't have any of her own. Her brother does, which will normalize it for her somewhat. But she still comes from a canon where the big bad was capable of possessing people, so prepare for some suspicion if you try anything without warning.

MAGIC/POWERS: Any and all "powers" on Mabel's part boil down to poisonous vampire nonsense so I will reach out before getting up to any shenanigans with them. I'd appreciate the same head's up for anything major being done at or to her!

MEDICAL INFORMATION: As a vileblood Mabel's pain tolerance will be through the roof and she bleeds greenish, which is kind of gross. Mostly this means she is a very sturdy kid.

OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS OR TRIGGERS: While Mabel doesn't have any true triggers, per se, she does have a very solid creeper radar, having had something of a stalker in the past -- I really want to add "inasmuch as a spoiled 11 year old can stalk anyone properly" but he sort of did build a gundam and kidnap her with it so like. Mm. To that end any behavior she perceives as being gross in her direction she will call out and shut down.

⇓out of character⇓

BACKTAGGING: Yes please! Ongoing health nonsense keeps me slow.

FOURTH WALLING: This does not bother me!

THREADHOPPING: Ask first, please!

CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR, BUT CAN STILL PLAY: I'm typically okay with anything in text and artistic illustrations, but a head's up about photographic imagery of grisly injuries, lots of holes in one spot (trypophobia), and swarming ants would be appreciated, thanks.

CONTENT I ABSOLUTELY NEED WARNINGS FOR AND THAT I CAN'T PLAY: I have zero interest in dubious sexual consent or underage anything.

ANYTHING ELSE: Nothing off the top of my head! Will add to this as necessary.

comments

Deer Country App

Character Base

• Character Name: Mabel Pines
• Age: 14 as of August 31st
• Canon (Date/Year Released)/Canon Point: Gravity Falls (2012) | End of Series
• Items Coming Along:

1. Grappling hook, her weapon of choice from home
2. Her beloved glue gun and bag of glue sticks
3. Clothes: Her shooting star sweater, matching pink headband, purple skirt, white socks, and black slip-on shoes.
4. The Scrapbook™, which helped Stan Pines to regain his memories at the end of canon, and which Mabel has been dutifully keeping up with all through her time in Deerington
5. Sewing machine
6. Cordy the plaidypus, one of the house pets
7. Various other art and craft supplies looted from the art store in Deer after the dream began crumbling, apparently. Thanks, Crime Family

• Content Warnings for Character: Bullying, mild post-apocalyptic PTSD, violence towards minors, stalker behavior considered romantic by the character in question (Mabel is the victim here), emotional dysregulation

Original Deerington Application

• Link to Accepted Deerington Application: Here.
• Additional Adjustments to include:

Arrival: Quite frankly, Mabel's arrival in Deerington was a fantastic day. The rest of the Pines had preceded her by several months, so from her perspective, she dozed off on the bus ride home after her summer in Gravity Falls only to wake up and be greeted by her brother and the Grunkles she'd just left behind, all of them overjoyed to see her. She had only come to terms with the idea of leaving through Dipper's direct support and hadn't truly wanted to go, so coming to Deerington effectively granted her wish of extending her summer vacation. Dipper told her of the dangers inherent in the place that first night, explaining how he'd lost his eye due to setting-inflicted insanity and telling her that people died and came back on the regular. Although Mabel made a mental note to keep an eye on her brother for future signs of possession, she wasn't especially impressed with the rest, even commenting that dying over and over again was dumb and defeated the whole point.

Her initial time in Deerington didn't do much to dissuade her of the notion. Sure, creepy things happened -- people falling from the sky for no obvious reason, for example -- but she was fresh from an apocalypse at home and had also spent her summer doing things like running from a demon that ate another kid right in front of her and getting turned into a wooden statue at an extremely haunted party. Horrible things like this tend to roll right off her, and it's seeing her people suffering directly that really gets her. To that end, the Mayor's tea party wound up being mostly a playful event for her, as she skipped the asylum and went straight to the fun of the miniature wonderland. Meanwhile, Dipper did wind up in the asylum where he fought tooth and nail to escape after they tried to convince him that his sister was dead. This would serve as something of a warning for things to come. Although Mabel herself was able to laugh it all off, she couldn't deny the effect the place was having on her brother.

Things grew worse from there, as anything resembling normalcy, weird or otherwise, was stripped away. As the world grew more and more dangerous, Mabel was effectively trapped inside to avoid various monsters through a huge part of the spring. On a surface level this was no trouble. After all, she'd already put up a solid resistance to going to school and she gets along with her family just fine even in close quarters. However, Mabel is someone who likes to throw dance parties to wear herself out and whose reaction to intense stress is often to run until it's out of her system. To find herself in a situation where she had to be cooped up and very quiet or risk a sandworm coming up out of the ground to eat her family was absolutely hell on Mabel's nerves.

The moment that really drove home that Deerington truly was terrible was Stan's death, killed by one such sandworm. For all her dismissive talk the night she arrived, finding out her beloved grunkle had been killed tore Mabel to shreds emotionally. Knowing that he'd be back in a week didn't help the way she'd believed it would, because all she could think about was that Stan must have been scared, and because it was a violent death he might have been hurting, and to top it all off, he was alone, without any of his family nearby. For the first time, Mabel began to understand that it wasn't the events themselves that were really scary. Rather, it was the emotional marks they could leave behind, and she made it a point to be the one visiting Stanley in bed and smuggling him ice cream when he returned.

The dream began falling apart. Having been there only a couple of months, the stories of the various characters in the dream had little meaning for Mabel -- she didn't have much context for the larger story. Still, when it came time to go through everyone's visions and decide what to do with their eggs, Mabel made it a point to go through all of them with her brother so she could see everything for herself. She approached all of them with the kindness and compassion she prides herself on, even offering sympathy to Mother Superior. But the most striking of all of their interactions was Cynthia's vision, for two reasons. Firstly, the twins concluded that the best course of action was to give Cynthia the mercy kill she begged for, driving home the point that sometimes the kindest thing you can do for somebody is something that looks awful and bad on the surface. Even more importantly, Dipper chose to do the deed himself, warning Mabel to look away. It was a moment when Mabel looked at her brother and realized abruptly that he was growing up. Deerington had been hardening her squishy nerd of a twin into something tall and determined, and while it wasn't actually the first time she'd seen that streak in him and it's certainly not going to stop her from calling him a dork and shoving him over, it was the first time she looked at her brother and really registered that she was catching a glimpse of the person he'll become someday. Given her own habit of trailing along behind in his wake, it gave her some serious food for thought.

As the dream wound to a close, both sets of Pines twins discussed the situation as a family, something Mabel found a lot of security in -- even when the other disagreed with her or had other thoughts to contribute, she never felt dismissed or rejected, which was hugely affirming to her. She found herself wanting to go home even less than she had at the end of her summer in Gravity Falls, having realized that returning to a normal life in a normal place after all the weird stuff she and her family had been through was probably the grossest, itchiest fate she could imagine. That being the case, when "home" wound up being an illusion and the other Pines agreed that they should all move forward together, Mabel was overjoyed. While she certainly misses the friends she made in Gravity Falls and her parents too, the Grunkles appreciate the weirdness in her as no one else has, and the idea of moving forward in a world that will accommodate that too is liberating for her. Growing up in Trench will give her opportunities to live a life she'd never be able to get at home, and Mabel feels secure that so long as she has her family they'll all be just fine, even if Trench also turns out to be super stupid.

Deer Country Attributes

• Canon Powers: No canon powers here!
• Blood Type: Vileblood
• Omen: Mabel has a pet pig at home named Waddles. Her omen is Waddles, but with wings. I was planning on them being bird wings but it occurs to me that if they became bat wings when Mabel is corrupted and the rest of him remains his cute affable pig self, that would be very funny. Because omens can change size she will absolutely use him as a trusty steed and go flying around Trench on her giant winged pig. You're welcome.
• Blessed Day: August 31st
• Patron Pthumerian: Mariana, chaos god is go
• Blood Power Manifestation: Mabel values her adorable cuteness and being all green and poisonous and referred to as "vile" is going to distress her intensely. She will not be getting "powers" from her blood type so much as "traits", also, which will also put her out somewhat -- all the other Pines are going to manifest with actual cool stuff, but Mabel just is what she is. Given that all the "actual cool stuff" is reminiscent of powers used by Bill, the canon big bad, the family conclusion will be that the boys all have Bill powers because at some point they made a deal with Bill. Meanwhile, Mabel squirted him directly in the eye with a can of spray paint. So, you know.

Pain Tolerance: Mabel already had some of this simply by virtue of being an art student -- craftwork is often more physical than you might think, and you get to a point where small nicks and bruises and the like just don't even register. I'm not taking her so far that she goes numb and loses all physical sensation, but she will absolutely become even more negligent to her own injuries, making her both ideal to serve as the family tank and also arguably the last person you want doing that.

Poison Kisses: We are going to go with spit as the "bodily secretion" of Mabel's that generates poison, mostly because I'm a terrible person. On the one hand, Mabel's "I licked it, so it's mine" power will now be off the charts. On the other, when you are a teenaged girl pining for a beautiful romance, this is something that can put a major cramp in things. This will be dependent on her corruption levels. When Mabel is doing well probably you only have to worry about maybe hallucinating a little bit, but the farther she goes into her personal corrupted state, the more likely a bite from her will straight up leave an acid burn behind.

I'm the Hot Vampire: Absolutely gains strength and energy from ingesting blood. Yet another Red Flag of Corruption™. Mabel has problems regarding impulse control and eating things she should not as it is; when she gets to the point of compulsively biting people, it is time to take steps.

She'll make it a point to make up for her vile, vile transgressions of existence by routinely donating to the incense and smoke bomb causes.

The Player

• Player Name: Callie
• Player Age: 35
• Player Contact: blithering
• Permissions: Here.

Link to your reserve for this character: Here.

Link to Character 1 overall AC: Here!

comments

Deerington: May 2021

Family Meeting Minutes

Summary: In May 2021 as reality crumbles, characters are all given batches of eggs directly linked to themselves and the local NPCs, with the option to nurture, hulk smash, or ignore them. A series of visions related to each NPC is meant to help with the decision-making process. By this point, Mabel has only been in game a few months, and has very little context for any of the NPCs. So, she tags along with Dipper for the visions.

The visions are triggered by ingesting the hair of the NPCs, collected earlier, in some sort of weirdo witchcraft ritual that nobody in the family questions because honestly they are all just like that. Dipper is the one who gets stuck with this gross task because he is a sucker.

( lol not threading all this )

comments

Notes to self re: Deerington

- Arrival to Deerington starts with a dream which includes words "you might be able to help". This will appeal to Mabel's overall sense of sympathy towards those who are hurting -- until she starts getting real details of what life is like in this place and she realizes the full scale of what it's been putting her family through. Dipper's missing eye and scars are unavoidable but then she'll start getting hints of things like evil insomnia, evil dreams, and people getting killed over and over. She won't be able to nope out of all that and it will smash her Pines Family Berserker Button™, and she'll shift from sympathy to anger on behalf of her loved ones. She'll still want to help, but it will be for the cause of ending this experience, not for the sake of helping.

- "You're asleep and it's just a dream" yeah okay but we lived through Bill so like. It's real

- There are magical girls here and Mabel is not one of them. Time to flip shit

- Personal project -- a coat that isn't BORING and DUMB!!! Mabel is from a town close to 'Frisco and Oregon snow is a rare unicorn, snow is cute initially but let's face it Maine is disgusting in the long term. Must research 1950's fashion as it is not my specialty at all. I play Victorians

- But what I do know is poodle skirts. Mabel is a growing girl who needs hobbies to cope and a proper circle skirt takes like two seconds. Poodle skirt arsenal is go. The first one she makes will have a pig on it.

- (I am aware that the timeline is shifty and we are not glued to the 1950's but I am also aware that the town is socially locked in the 1950's and Mabel has to go to school, and while fitting in is not necessarily Mabel's concern, she is going to see poodle skirts and want poodle skirts, this is my IC justification for "I feel like it")

- (We will have 80's days sometimes because Mabel)

- (It also occurs to me that if I ever gave her an evil neck scar we can start a cute little scarf collection. I am not saying I will do this. I am not saying that I won't)

- On that note Mabel will feel hurt by the way Sleepers are treated by the locals because she is just like that but when she realizes that they all have 1950's brains anyway she will turn on them, much the way she initially gave Pacifica the benefit of the doubt but then turned on her until she stopped being a jerk. Mabel says gay rights and also we celebrate every holiday kthnxbai

- Poodle skirt with a rainbow on it

- Boy-craziness -- to make life easier on myself gonna have her declare that after her billion failed summer romances in Gravity Falls, she's swearing off romance for a while. Will this prevent her from freaking out over cute guys or declaring random things her soulmate? No. But it is an avenue for me to steer her more towards prioritizing her family and means she will not attempt to flirt with every other teenager in the game, holy shit. Probably the people she is closest to will have to hear about hot people a lot though sorry folks

- This will also not turn off the matchmaking but I have an out here as well in that the incidents with locking Dipper and Wendy into an underground bunker with a violent shapeshifter and also fucking with Robbie and Tambry both backfired severely, so while things turned out alright in the end in both cases she'll be more cautious about acting on her own -- gives me a way to explain it ICly when she doesn't meddle with every ship in her social circle as a damned hobby

- Despite all her DIE DIE DIE stuff Mabel does not actually like to fight for serious and only lashes out when provoked. Fortunately Deerington provokes her by existing because it has made her family hurty and also why does everyone else get cool weapons instead of her???? Tap Stan and Ruby, Jami showed me Yang's gauntlets, gonna have the next best thing to kitten-hand cannons aw yiss (ideally when they are not activated they will resemble bad 80's bangle bracelets)

- Dipper is picking up stress baking so clearly she must bully him into cupcakes and cookies which she will then decorate aggressively. BONDING WITH BROBRO

- Mabel as a student: She is in no way bad or stupid at her schoolwork, but she acknowledges Dipper as the brains of the two and her personal priorities lie more with her artistic pursuits. She doesn't fail anything by a long shot, but she has trouble bothering to apply herself to things she isn't interested in -- during chess with Dipper she goes along with the game, but also fucks off from actively trying in favor of hoarding all the pony pieces. Also leaves things last minute and finishes in a flurry of Mabel Juice™, because how else do you think she freaking developed Mabel Juce™.

comments

Rarely seen without one of her bright homemade sweaters and known for such antics as wearing doritos as earrings and eating entire tubes of toothpaste, Mabel possesses very little by way of impulse control and, occasionally, has moments wherein she is totally unable to regulate her emotions -- at one point she is so happy she literally scuttles straight up a wall, cackling. When she meets her best friends, Candy and Grenda, Candy has forks taped to her fingers with which she is eating popcorn and explains that this is an "improvement on human being". Mabel declares immediately that she has found her people. She also seems to have a penchant for body horror, producing such wonders as a centaur comprised of two horse butts, a horrifying dolphin thing with four arms and an additional dolphin mouth in each hand, and, in a mindscape once, giving herself personal hand cannons that allow her to fire off disembodied pink kitten heads as weapons.

Mabel is an extremely strange child. However, underneath her unrepentant weirdness and baffling creativity, Mabel possesses a depth that makes her one of the strongest hearts of the series.

Firstly, for context, Mabel is a thirteen-year-old girl -- twelve throughout the real action in the show. This puts her right on the cusp between childish games and fantasies and the inevitable journey to adulthood, something she is increasingly aware of and distraught by as the storyline progresses. She possesses a typical craziness over boys for someone her age, and an obsession with the trimmings and trappings of romance that is ultimately shallow as all hell, once stating that romance is like chewing gum: "When one loses its flavor, you just cram another one in." Two of her major priorities in life are repeatedly and deliberately eating so much sugar she gets sick to the point of hallucinating and covering everything in as much glitter as possible. She also makes a video of herself stuffing gummy worms up her nose to send home to her mother. This immaturity masks an emotional sensitivity that ultimately makes up the core of her character.

The most obvious manifestations of this are often negative. Rejection and loss of any kind cut Mabel deeply. Being left behind is her greatest fear, and is consistently what leaves the greatest marks on her. She starts off the summer declaring her intent to have a successful summer romance and her string of failures in this regard is a wound that comes up multiple times, to the point that she considers turning a memory gun on herself to erase them from her mind, so that she won't be haunted by them anymore. Being told by a magical unicorn that she isn't a good person has her drawing up a list of her personal sins and going on a spree of good deeds in an attempt to prove herself, and, despite going through such traumatic incidents as getting chased by a demon that literally ate another child in front of her and almost losing her brother to her stalker piloting a giant robot, it's the day she finds out her best friends can't attend her birthday party and Wendy ruins her illusion of high school as a festive musical that she dubs the worst day of her entire life. More seriously, when her brother agrees to stay in Gravity Falls for an apprenticeship to Ford instead of coming home with Mabel at the end of the summer, Mabel is so upset that she takes off and runs into the woods to get away from him, ultimately kicking off the apocalypse when she falls for an offer from Bill in disguise to make the summer last longer. When Stan loses his memory and doesn't recognize her, she has to be physically pulled away from him. She also possesses an incredible sympathy for the pain of others that sometimes gets her into trouble. At best, this results in relatively gentle shenanigans, such as feeling so bad for one of the local teenagers when he's depressed over a breakup that she goes out of her way to set him up with someone else to help him move on. ("Out of her way" in this instance means "literally stealing magic potions from a passing love deity", as one does.) At worst, she hangs out with her stalker far longer than she's comfortable with and ends up having a meltdown over the pressure, all because she doesn't want to hurt his feelings. When Dipper sees her struggling and steps in to break it off on her behalf, she is relieved, but still only turns on her stalker completely when he responds poorly and hurts Dipper.

On the other side of the sensitivity spectrum, when she is loved, Mabel notices. After several days spent fixated on composing a sock puppet rock opera in order to impress a boy, she is confronted with her brother having been possessed by Bill Cipher when she was not looking. Her choice is to ruin her own work to save him, or go after what she really wants and leave Dipper to his own problems. Bill taunts her as to whether Dipper would make such a choice for her. Dipper has dropped his own goals for Mabel's sake in the past before and she announces with certainty that he would absolutely do so again. She chooses to save her brother, and after her hard work is ruined, even apologizes to him for breaking her promise to help him with his own project in her panic over her deadline. Later, she and Dipper are confronted with the discovery that their Grunkle Stan is not what he seems, having uncovered fake IDs, a newspaper article covering his own death, video footage showing him stealing radioactive waste, and, most damning, a secret door leading to a secret lab with a sketchy portal device in it, along with the companion journals to the one Dipper has carried the whole series. When the portal is activated, it comes down to Mabel to decide whether or not to turn it off, as she's the only one in reach of the relevant button.

Dipper hones in on all the physical evidence that Stan has been lying to them the entire time, and the fact that according to the journals, the portal could destroy the world. Dipper is not wrong. Both of these things are true. Stan begs and pleads and promises that although some of the bad things they're going to hear about him are true, everything he's ever worked for has been their family -- the sort of emotional appeal that doesn't really stand up in the face of hard facts, and words that may well also be lies. Ultimately, Mabel falls back on one of the aspects of the lab that Dipper did not notice and which Mabel was the one to point out: Stan kept a picture of her and Dipper at the desk in the lab where he worked. This was a completely unnecessary gesture that they would have never found out about if they hadn't stumbled into his lab, and she took it as confirmation that regardless of everything else, his feelings for them were genuine. She based her decision to trust him on those feelings rather than the facts, and so, Stan's ultimate success and the retrieval of Ford falls entirely on the sheer dumb luck that it was Mabel with access to that button rather than Dipper.

As far as Mabel's flaws and weaknesses go, perhaps chief among them is that she gets so carried away with whatever is right in front of her that she doesn't really think of consequences. When this manifests in ways that are relatively harmless, it's usually in the form of things like skipping around without paying attention and slamming herself face first into a screen door. However, this is something that can be dangerous, too -- when she meddles with Robbie's love life using the potions she stole from the love god she ends up breaking up the entire friend group because she didn't consider the way their lives really intertwined otherwise, and at one point, she's so focused on getting her brother to confess his crush to Wendy while they are exploring an underground bunker that she completely dismisses the inherent danger of their situation and locks the two of them in a room together -- turns out there's a vicious shapeshifting monster in there, oops. She also sometimes copes with intense negativity by shutting down entirely, as seen in the moments when she runs away from whatever has upset her and finds a quiet place where she can pull her sweater over her head and rock back and forth. Her strange phobia of stop-motion animation sends her diving into a laundry basket and refusing to come out, such that the others just pick up the whole basket with Mabel inside it when they set out on an adventure to help her. Towards the end of the series, she winds up kidnapped and imprisoned in a mindscape of her own making, which she dubs Mabeland. Everything is literally bright colors "only visible to bees and art students", cute animals, and constant 80's synth pop music. She's even invented another version of her brother, Dippy Fresh, whose sole purpose is to support her in all things. The one rule of Mabeland is that no one is ever permitted to mention reality, and those who do are attacked by Mabeland's residents and put on trial.

However, Mabeland isn't only about denial. One of its main functions links straight back to the primary core of Mabel's personal sense of who she is -- kindness. Her personal moral code is tied up in this trait. Morality is something that is gray in the series overall. Stan is a wanted criminal who keeps his arrest warrants under a certain rug in the shack and no one is bothered by this. There are throwaway references to everyone participating in money laundering, vandalism, and breaking into a movie theater as though it were a proper heist, all as a family. Mabel has literally made herself a "lying sweater" with an image of crossed fingers on the back beneath her hair and sees nothing wrong with kidnapping an entire boyband when she discovers that their manager essentially keeps them in a giant hamster cage and has clones of them waiting to go. "Morality is relative," she declares, after she discovers the unicorn who accused her of being a terrible person was scamming her all along and didn't care about her feelings at all and the entire situation dissolved into a horrible rainbow fistfight.

She also declares, however, that "being kind and sweet is what makes me who I am. If I'm not a good person, who am I?" Given the added context of flashbacks to times when she and her brother were bullied, the way she reacts to Pacifica's bullying by smiling and insisting on being friendly to her even while allowing herself to be upset and angry when the other girl is not around, and Mabel's honestly alarming capacity for violence — when a disembodied arm belonging to a sentient wax figure attempts to choke her she immediately turns around and starts slamming its fingers in a door and she cuts off one of Bill's evil monologues by straight up squirting spray paint directly into his eye — it becomes clear that kindness is something that Mabel has chosen for herself, although the way she handles this is certainly imperfect. This manifests in Mabeland as fantasies for her friends that are personally tailored to their greatest wishes, the most emotional of these being Soos seeing a vision of his absent father. The vision acknowledges that they've never met and the form he takes is based entirely on Soos's imagination, and asks him if he wants to play catch. As Soos agrees, he tells the twins that although he knows it isn't real, he can't miss this chance to experience playing catch with his dad just once. When Dipper calls Mabel out on this, asking her if she truly believes these fantasies are good, she tells him: "You can't argue with the results. People are happy here! Does it really matter if it's real or not? For once, stop listening to your head and listen to your heart."

Dipper ultimately encourages her to let go of her fantasies and return to the real world by reminding her that in all the times that reality has been cruel to either of them, the other twin was there to provide unconditional love and support -- Dipper shaving a line into his hair to match Mabel when another little girl put gum in her hair on picture day, Mabel taping all of her valentines into one big heart for Dipper when he didn't receive any at all. Mabel is there for her family and her family is there for her, always, and family is where she finds her greatest strength. Although she overcomes her initial upset and tells her brother that she'll understand if he wants to stay with Ford when it's all over, he promises that he would never miss out on Mabel's awkward teenage years, and the twins are hand in hand as they rally the remaining townsfolk together to defeat Bill.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping: Mabel is, as far as we're aware, a normal human thirteen-year-old girl -- there's some off the cuff jokes about her capacity for eating things she shouldn't and getting away with it, like entire tubes of toothpaste and probably glitter, but that's nothing real. Her "power" is confidence and cunning, in that she's willing to use whatever she has on hand to fight if she needs to, and sometimes that's a fist full of glitter in her pocket that she can then blow into somebody's face. Quite frankly she probably learned this from getting into petty slapfights with her brother during their toddlerhood; it has that sort of vibe about it. No true psychic abilities either, but she takes to mindscapes where her imagination gives her options and control very easily. Her status as an art student probably gives her a couple extra points to her Constitution stat but again, thirteen-year-old girl.

Inventory:

1. Grappling hook: This is the weapon. It is not technically to be used as such, and is instead a device she uses to grab things and take herself to high places, but she can and has hit people with it. Military grade, apparently. Thanks, Stan.
2. Glue gun and one bag of glue sticks: The first glue gun was invented in 1954, so her modern one will be a treasure to her -- "Grenda, get the glue gun. We're making dresses!" -- that she'll have to ration the use of because of limited glue.
3. A walkie-talkie: The match to her brother's.
4. Clothes: Her shooting star sweater, matching pink headband, purple skirt, white socks, and black slip-on shoes.
5. Scrapbook: A festive book full of photographs and stickers chronicling her summer spent in Gravity Falls. When Stan's memory is lost, she uses the scrapbook to help him recover it.
6. Sewing machine: The simple but modern machine she sometimes uses in canon -- a simple beginner machine, nothing computerized, but still a far cry from the chunky metal things prevalent decades ago. <s>Nevermind that she is using it backwards, it is a cartoon and we will forgive them.</s>

Writing Samples:

Voice test with Dipper
Test drive

OUT OF CHARACTER

Player Name: Callie
Player Age: 34
Player Contact: plurk is blithering but DMs to this journal preferred for now

Other Characters In Game: None!
In-Game Tag If Accepted: Mabel Pines: Callie
Permissions for Character: Here!
Are you comfortable with prominent elements of fourth-walling?: Yes!
What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?: The aftermath bits where characters console and support one another and grow as people -- the comfort part of the good old hurt/comfort trope. Exploration of the ways trauma shapes a personality, and horror that's tailored specifically to an individual's personality. Destroying people is neat and all but the real fun for me is building them back up in both positive and negative ways.
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: I'm typically okay with text and artistic illustrations, but a head's up about photographic imagery of grisly injuries, lots of holes in one spot (trypophobia), and swarming ants would be appreciated, thanks.
Additional Information:

comments
